County approves $246,400 task order for 300 South/US‑421 intersection design

County engineering staff presented Task Order #2 from HWC to design turn‑lane improvements and replace a small structure at the 300 South/US‑421 intersection. Staff said study work showed the intersection needed additional turn lanes to raise level of service from E/F toward acceptable levels and recommended extending left‑turn and constructing dedicated right‑turn lanes including associated right‑of‑way work.

Staff described coordination with Zansville on an interlocal and cost sharing with INDOT for design expenses. "Total not to exceed amount of this task order is $246,400," the presenter said. Commissioners approved the task order and noted the project will proceed to design and right‑of‑way services.
