Trustees approve modification to add Pre-K class by collapsing a kindergarten section

The Randolph Field Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 5–0 Sept. 25 to modify the district’s Pre-K and kindergarten configuration for the 2025–26 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Brian Holt explained trustees that low kindergarten enrollment had left an available teacher; the plan calls for collapsing one kindergarten class, reallocating those students into other kindergarten classrooms, and using the freed teacher to staff an additional Pre-K section. Dr. Holt told trustees that more than 60 qualified students were on the Pre-K waiting list, making the reassignment a staffing and enrollment solution.

Trustee Peter Duffy moved to consider the modification; Trustee Vanessa Bowden seconded the motion. President Jimmy Cornelius called the question and the motion carried on a recorded vote, 5–0.
