Residents raise cinders, overgrown lots and sidewalk concerns; code enforcement staffing changes noted

Public concerns at the July 14 meeting focused on neighborhood maintenance and code enforcement.

Resident Tim Jutsum of E Houston Ave described problems with cinders on the street, trees hanging over Campbell Street and recent road closures. Councilmember Ruth Little asked about storm sewers on E Houston Avenue and the sidewalk near the parking lot, and raised two overgrown lots on N Main Street. She also asked whether the Borough could produce an expense ledger showing what it spends on related maintenance.

Code Enforcement Officer Brittany Vann reviewed her report and said "Rachel Lyons is taking over the tracking/letters for the Borough." Vann noted that permit lists were distributed and that officers conduct twice-monthly rounds. Craig Miller asked how recipients of enforcement letters are determined; the minutes record the question but not an immediate administrative answer.

Council did not take immediate regulatory action at the meeting beyond asking staff to follow up on the cited issues.
