Planning staff told commissioners that recent state law changes mean accessory dwelling units (ADUs) move from a Type II planning review to a Type I review, which eliminates the standard neighborhood notice. As staff said, "With the type one application, neighbors won't be notified that a neighbor is building an ADU. That's the difference."
