Resident urges parity in speaking limits; commissioners consider evening meetings

A Spokane resident told the county board Aug. 18 that public-comment limits are unfair, and commissioners discussed possibly revising rules and moving meetings to evenings to increase public access.

During the open public forum, Jim Lady told commissioners the board’s one‑minute limit for public speakers is unfair when commissioners themselves may speak longer during meetings. “If you're going to put those restrictions on the public who you are here to serve for, then you need to put the restrictions on yourselves,” he said.
