Madison County approves $718,324.99 pay application and multiple change orders for courthouse project

The Madison County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 11 approved AIA Document G702 Pay Application No. 2 for the Courthouse Addition & Renovation in the amount of $718,324.99 and authorized related change orders covering underslab drainage and water/fire service upgrades.

Commissioner William A. Todd moved to approve the pay application and explained the related construction work; Commissioner Duke W. Gilman seconded and the motion passed unanimously. "Commissioner Todd moved to approve the Courthouse Addition & Renovation Application and Certificate for Payment, AIA Document G702 Pay Application No. 2, for $718,324.99," the record shows. The board later approved PCO #009 (basement underslab drainage) for $17,951.45, PCO #011 (domestic water and fire building service line) for $31,068.43, and PCCO #001 (Owner Change Order 001 consolidating completed work) for $133,183.33.

Todd told the board the drainage work includes excavation, drain pipe installation, connection to the storm system, filter fabric and gravel, backfilling, grading and compaction. He said the separate domestic fire service line was needed because the existing water service was inadequate to support effective fire suppression.

All motions on the pay application and the change orders passed with Commissioners Todd, Duke W. Gilman and Ron E. Nye recorded as voting in favor. The board did not specify contractor names or revised project completion dates in the meeting transcript. The items will be reflected in the county's project payment and change‑order records going forward.
