Evergreen Elementary construction on track, district told; occupancy targeted for late July

A district presenter told the board that Evergreen Elementary’s construction is progressing "extraordinarily well," with sidewalks and utilities in place, footings poured in most areas and early prefabrication planned. "The project is moving along extraordinarily well," the presenter said, noting a 100% design-development set has been received and that form work is in place.

The presenter said three contract amendments have already been executed and that the district will bring a third GMP (GMP 3) to the board that will encompass the entire project budget. The presentation identified key procedural items required by OSPI — a constructability review and a value-engineering report — and explained that the project is being delivered with progressive design-build methods.

Board members asked about design details and schedule. The presenter confirmed a target occupancy in late July (discussed as July 27) and said 90% construction documents were scheduled for Oct. 19 with 100% documents expected mid- to late-December. Staff emphasized the schedule’s tightness and ongoing risk monitoring; many long-lead items have been procured early to reduce schedule risk.

The update included capacity and finish discussions (presenter said the building would accommodate about 600 students) and closed with an offer to return with GMP 3 and more detailed documents at the next board meeting.
