Evergreen Elementary project "moving along extraordinarily well," presenter says

The presenter told the board the Evergreen Elementary construction project is progressing well and remains on schedule, with footings poured across most areas and on-site prefabrication planned. "The project is moving along extraordinarily well," he said, and noted three contract amendments have been executed, including two initial GMPs; GMP 3 — which will encompass the full project budget under progressive design-build — will be presented at the next board meeting.

Board members asked about design details and capacity. The presenter described a multi-story building with a sloped (pitch) roof, neutral exterior colors, and capacity to accommodate about 600 students. He said renderings and design materials are posted on the district website and confirmed the schedule targets: 90% construction documents by Oct. 19 and 100% construction documents by mid-to-late December, with framing expected to start in the fall and commissioning planned before and during occupancy.

The presenter also described constructability and value-engineering reviews required by OSPI and stressed early procurement for long-lead mechanical and framing items as a mitigation strategy for schedule risk. Board members and staff emphasized the tight occupancy timeline and ongoing risk monitoring to ensure the building is turnkey when students arrive.
