Charlotte launches task force to recommend data center policy changes

City staff launched a community task force to review Charlotte's data center moratorium, gather neighborhood feedback and advise City Council on potential ordinance changes. The group will meet weekly and aims to provide recommendations by mid-September.

The City of Charlotte held the first meeting of its Data Center Task Force to begin reviewing the moratorium on new data center approvals and to gather community input on possible policy updates. Heather Bullet, the city's chief sustainability and resilience officer, opened the meeting and described the group's mission: "help shape the city of Charlotte data center policy by providing recommendations to city council."
