Trustees declare nuisance, authorize removal actions for multiple properties

Delhigh Township trustees voted to adopt a number of nuisance and related code‑enforcement resolutions on Aug. 18 addressing properties with accumulated debris, excessive vegetation and at least one junk motor vehicle. The board dispensed with second readings and approved the emergency declarations that authorize township staff to proceed with remediation or removal steps under township code.

Community development staff said they began with a larger set of violations and achieved voluntary compliance on many properties; the six resolutions presented at the meeting identify properties that remained in violation. Trustees followed staff recommendations and approved the measures by roll call. Staff noted the legal criteria for a junk motor vehicle removal (inoperable, flat tires, three years old or older and not currently licensed) when discussing the junk‑vehicle resolution.

The resolutions authorize staff to proceed with abatement steps and to bill property owners as permitted by township code; trustees will receive follow‑up reporting on compliance and remediation outcomes.
