Police present stop-demographics, holster-trigger camera tech and Spider Tech customer feedback

Chief O'Mara summarized Oregon-mandated stop-data reporting for officer-initiated stops through mid-2025, reporting the stop demographics were roughly in line with local census figures and noting limitations (the stop data does not permit multiracial classification and uses perceived categories). He said this reporting is published annually by the state and that the department will continue to improve data accuracy.

On technology, the chief described new holster and in-car camera triggers that will automatically begin recording if a duty holster is opened within range of the in-car system, improving capture of weapon presentations and ensuring future data includes those events. He described Spider Tech citizen-feedback metrics for dispatch follow-up and noted an engagement rate of about 28% and favorable satisfaction scores.

Councilors asked staff to reconcile datasets where possible and to improve crime-log coding so advocates and the public can better track incidents; the chief agreed to follow up and meet with deputy chiefs to address coding gaps.
