Committee discusses existing data, project schedule and long-term model maintenance

Mar 5, 2026

Speakers said numerous historical hydrogeologic reports and student projects exist that can be synthesized into a GIS for Modflow input; the proposal estimates about 10 months for data discovery and another year for modeling and public engagement, and members discussed long-term maintenance and software-version concerns for the model.

The full story

Participants said a substantial stack of historical reports, probe data and past modeling work exists and that compiling those materials into a GIS would be a major part of phase one. A student project has already produced a Modflow importable GIS for at least part of the aquifer, and committee members said synthesis of existing data would reduce the need for new fieldwork in many cases.
