The animal control officer presented a proposal to update the city’s animal shelter fees, noting current rates dated to 2020 and no longer covered operating costs. Council approved discontinuing the city animal license tag program, increasing the daily boarding fee for unclaimed animals from $3.00 to $10.00 per day, standardizing the surrender fee at $50.00, and raising the special permit fee for keeping more than four dogs to $20.00 per animal; the rabies verification fee was left unchanged.
