Commissioners accept final plat for 453-unit Lost Tree Preserve, dissent on timeline

The Board of County Commissioners voted to accept final plat dedications for the Lost Tree Preserve planned development, a project described in staff materials as involving 453 townhome units. The vote carried 4–1 after Vice Chair Commissioner Moss objected to long gaps between preliminary approval and final plat, saying the county needs deadlines for implementation: "we need more of a deadline," Moss said during the discussion.

County staff and the county administrator explained the current PD ordinance does not include an expiration timeframe for preliminary approvals; the administrator noted phase approvals spanned years (preliminary PD in 2010, final plat phase 1 approval in 2018 with later phases in 2023 and 2025). Commissioners discussed whether to return with proposed ordinance changes to establish time limits or to educate the commission on applicable statutes before acting; staff were asked to present options at a future meeting.
