Picture Rocks council reviews park projects as concession stand installed and dugouts funded by local group

Council members on July 6 discussed multiple park projects, including the delivery and correction of a recently purchased concession stand and construction of new dugouts funded in part by the volunteer group Girls of Tomorrow. The minutes record a Trophy Sheds invoice for an 8x12 concession stand totaling $3,426.00; the stand arrived with the wrong window on July 6 and a correct 8-foot window was installed on July 9.

Mayor Dave Bender said he would run electric to the concession stand. Council member Craig Gansel questioned whether permits had been obtained and raised concerns about the concession-stand location; the secretary said the council had decided the location at the June 1 meeting and that Girls of Tomorrow purchased materials and a permit. The secretary reported Girls of Tomorrow paid $3,500 for stone and $1,000 for building materials for dugouts and that a Codes permit payment of $404.50 had been recorded and approved. The minutes also note that an engineer's design had been presented at the June 1 meeting to inform siting decisions.

Council heard that materials for bocce courts were delivered and that a scout (Dani Price) working toward an Eagle Scout project is designing and building the bocce courts and two benches. Some council members expressed concern that new fencing near the dugouts was interfering with adult play on the field; council did not rescind the projects and recorded that Codes had approved the dugout permit.
