Federal verification system to affect Section 8 clients; board warned to prepare staff and notices
Town and CDA staff told the Patrick Village CDA that HUD now requires use of the USCIS SAVE system to verify that clients receiving one-to-one federally funded services are U.S. citizens or legally present — a change that will affect current and future Section 8 participants and requires new staff training and participant notices.

Town of Brook Haven administrative assistant David Bell told the CDA that an executive-branch enforcement decision (implemented January 2025) requires local administrators to use the USCIS SAVE system to verify citizenship or lawful presence for participants in one-on-one client services funded by federal grants.
