Commission hears plan to test courthouse window replacement and fix basement drain after storm damage

Facilities staff told commissioners the courthouse window replacement project is complex and the county will need a test section removed to evaluate structural ties and exact costs. Staff advised that bids and architect drawings exist but that costs will be higher than past estimates; they will bring scope, drawings and a test-bid estimate to the next meeting. "The only way to figure out what it would cost is to do one tear it out and out how much problem it's going to be to tie back into those pillars," staff said.

Separately, a heavy May storm caused water intrusion in the basement meeting room when an exterior step drain clogged. Staff will contract for drain replacement and concrete work and noted that the work requires scheduling to avoid disruptions to court proceedings.
