Engineers, planner and commission debate 'carry-out' drip water and layered stormwater protections
Aug 4, 2026
Presenters said carry-out (drip) water that leaves vehicles after washing is treated as incidental contact/stormwater under the state's interpretation; the team described deep-sump catch basins, hydrodynamic separators and vegetated water-quality basins that together should reduce contaminants before discharge to Saxton Brook.
The full story
The design team explained how on-site stormwater controls, hydrodynamic separators and retrofitted deep-sump catch basins will capture and treat runoff and incidental drip ("carry-out") water before it reaches Saxton Brook. Engineer Brandon Hanfield described retaining and infiltrating rooftop runoff, converting catch basins to deep-sump hoods and relying on an existing vegetated water-quality basin sized under the original PAD design.
