Commissioners adopt Unified Development Code changes on roof pitch, temporary events and data centers

County staff presented a package of Unified Development Code text amendments and asked the boards to adopt the changes. The package includes amendments to Article 3 (roof pitch and small-box discount retail), Article 4 (height and size thresholds tied to special-use permits), a new Article 3, Section 348 definition to address temporary events that generate repeated offsite impacts, and clarifications on data-center phasing and impervious-surface calculations.

During the presentation staff explained that the temporary-events definition creates an administrative pathway: after repeated reports of offsite impacts the director may require an administrative event permit or, depending on severity, require a special-use permit for ongoing events. "Upon three reports of repeated or ongoing events with offsite impact, the director may require review for either an administrative event permit or for a special use permit depending on the nature of the complaint," staff said. The board accepted the staff recommendation and the Board of Commissioners approved the UDC amendments by a recorded 3-0 vote.
