Select Board previews TIFF-funded redevelopment plan for municipal complex

Select Board member Mike Arwa presented an early concept for using a portion of TIFF funds to redevelop the Hollis municipal complex into a multiuse community and economic hub.

On screen visuals and discussion described reconfiguring the town barn and front drive, constructing sidewalks with lighting for safer school access, repairing the deteriorating parking area in front of the community building, and building an "allseason pavilion" on underused lower ball fields to host farmers markets, craft fairs, live music and winter skating. Arwa described the idea as a way to "generate revenue" on town land and estimated the cost roughly as "probably half million, maybe a little bit more than that." Board members raised concerns about landscaping maintenance, clay and drainage issues at the lower fields, permitting, and phased site planning; staff said a professional site planner has completed an initial walk and would provide a formal site plan if the board chooses to advance the project.

Boardmembers agreed the concept warranted further study, including detailed site work, cost estimates and public outreach before any funding decisions.
