Wilson County denies Core 5 request to pour concrete overnight near homes

The Wilson County Board of Zoning Appeals voted to deny a requested construction-hours variance that would have allowed Core 5 Industrial Partners to pour concrete between midnight and early morning for three buildings at 2525 Lone Oak Road. Staff told the board the property is adjacent to residential parcels and that the county ordinance limits construction hours to protect neighbors.

Core 5 representative Kelly Gransson said the company sought night pours for technical reasons and to reduce daytime traffic: "We will turn down all the backup alarms on all the vehicles and try to minimize all the noise we can," she said. Residents who live across the street told the board late-night pours would harm quality of life and present safety concerns on the narrow local roads. After discussion, the board agreed the ordinance’s limits and the presence of nearby homes outweighed the operational reasons presented and voted to deny the variance. The board required applicants facing similar situations to work within the ordinance or seek short, narrowly tailored relief in future hearings.
