Consultants present draft comprehensive plan framework after robust public survey response

Hannah Bader, vice president at Lakota Group, opened the comprehensive plan presentation by outlining a three‑phase process and the engagement approach that produced over 600 responses to the first public survey. She described five themes—balanced growth, downtown riverfront destination, housing and neighborhood resilience, economic prosperity, and infrastructure systems—and said consultants will carry public feedback into a first draft for the planning commission to review.

SB Friedman and Kimley Horn representatives walked commissioners through findings that inform strategies on housing, jobs, and infrastructure. SB Friedman summarized market observations and recommended directing growth toward served areas to maintain fiscal resiliency; Kimley Horn highlighted transportation and water infrastructure needs, including the village's planned transition to DuPage Water Commission service. Consultants reiterated that the opportunity site concepts are tools for staff and leadership rather than binding prescriptions.
