District administrator Lacy reported the district completed its first round of diagnostic testing and said elementary attendance is strong: "we are above 90%." She told the board that reading and math data show gains from last year and that the district is aiming to raise grade-level proficiency.
Lacy said reading showed specific improvements, with the packet noting "the plus seven, the plus six" compared with last year. She outlined targets: get 60% or more of students to grade level in math and reduce the district''s strategic math group (currently 68%) to under 34%. Lacy also said the district will expand informational library materials and reported she has already spent over $500 to add books aimed at students' grade levels.
Board members praised the improvement in reading while acknowledging math remained a challenge; the board discussion emphasized that literacy work is expected to support gains across other subjects. The board did not take a formal vote on these goals during the meeting.
