Stanfield leaders identify math RTI group as priority for winter inservice

District staff said early-year data show a substantial group of students below grade level in math and described ongoing RTI planning and dedicated inservice work to raise those students to grade level.
Lacy told the board that the largest at-risk cohort in the district’s beginning-of-year data falls into a 'yellow' category for math performance and that staff are directing inservice time to targeted interventions. "That yellow portion of kids with our math is by far the biggest," she said, adding the district will brainstorm targeted strategies at an upcoming inservice.
She said the goal is to prevent students from being advanced to the next grade behind academically and cited teacher feedback collected earlier in November. The board did not take formal action on instruction at the meeting but endorsed continuing professional time and data review to refine interventions.
