Selectboard says culvert appears to be functioning; requests inspection but will not withhold payment

The Select Board reviewed photos and an account from property owner Colby Marshall about a washout near a recently installed culvert. Chair Diane Benoit read a proposed letter to the property owner describing the town’s findings and next steps, concluding that the culvert "appears to be functioning as intended" and that the town did not find grounds to withhold payment of the invoice.

The letter cited that the culvert was carrying roadside drainage, pointed to a relatively small erosion area on the east side that might need additional stone or shaping, and said the town will inspect the site before making further determinations. The letter stated the outstanding balance on the invoice is $2,663.40 and proposed monthly payments of $532.68 beginning in August and continuing through December. "Based on its review of the photos, the select board does not find that the conditions shown provide a basis for withholding payment of the culvert invoice," the chair read into the record.
