Committee moves H.4247 to shift commodity-code enforcement to Attorney General

Mr. Wooten introduced H.4247, described as the chairman's bill, and said it makes multiple changes to the South Carolina commodity code intended to strengthen enforcement. Among key provisions he cited: transfer of administration from the Secretary of State to the Attorney General; authority for the Attorney General to pursue legal action on violations; alignment of investigation and administrative hearing procedures with the Securities Act; and a requirement to publish administrative orders on the Attorney General's website. He said the Secretary of State did not object.
