The UDO draft includes new standards intended to protect mature street trees and require meaningful open space. Brett Kee told the group the code sets a "30 foot preservation width" where trees along streets should be retained where practicable and adds a minimum open‑space requirement: "It requires a minimum of 10% of the total land area; in a plan development it requires 20%."
