Commissioners expressed concern about the cost of a proposed corrections defensive-tactics training agreement with Arc Tactical, which staff described as necessary to meet certification requirements. One commissioner asked, "$281.25 an hour?" and said that hourly rate "just seems really expensive." Staff and the county risk manager said the cap is $40,000 but that recent annual spending has been about $17,000 and $18,000, and that the training includes proficiency certification rather than passive attendance.
