Historic preservation candidate emphasizes teamwork, community ties

Mr. Wall told commissioners he was returning to seek one of two open seats on the Historic Preservation Commission because he values volunteering and wants to help steward Sheridan County’s cultural resources.

"I still believe firmly in the value of volunteering," he said, explaining that his background includes work with federal, state and local governments and that he prefers collaborative, relationship‑based preservation work rather than running things solo. He told the panel he understood the commission meets roughly monthly and that some projects require subcommittee work, and he said he has the availability to "surge" when committee projects demand extra hours.

Commissioners asked about practical experience and availability; Mr. Wall described prior project involvement — including community historic signage and partnerships — and stressed his willingness to work on grassroots projects such as the Monarch Bridge effort the commission had previously supported. The chair thanked Mr. Wall for his volunteerism and closed his interview, noting final selections will be announced at the BOCC meeting on June 16.
