Historic Preservation Commission recommends partnering with Preservation Utah Tours

The Springdale Historic Preservation Commission voted unanimously on Nov. 13 to recommend that the Town Council enter into a partnership with Preservation Utah Tours to develop a Springdale walking tour.

Staffer Kendall Sagers told the commission the Preservation Utah Tours app is free for municipalities, offers walking and driving tour formats, and requires town‑approved content and a designated point of contact for coordination. "Preservation Utah tour is free for Springdale to enter into that agreement," Kendall said, stressing the low‑cost, low‑effort nature of the option. Commissioners said a walking tour focused within Springdale should be the first step, with a later driving tour potentially expanded to include nearby historic places such as Grafton.

Commission discussion focused on logistics and scope rather than cost; commissioners noted the town would supply photos and copy and staff would confirm technical details with Preservation Utah before sending the recommendation to Town Council. The commission’s motion to recommend the partnership cited three findings: a longstanding desire for a walking tour, the time and cost savings of using the Preservation Utah platform, and consistency with the General Plan’s natural and cultural resources goal (sub‑goal D). The recommendation will proceed to the Town Council for final approval.
