Subcommittee to review accessible app training and STAR Rider Guide updates; electronic reasonable‑accommodation submissions enabled

Roco Viscanti told the subcommittee he will provide a version of the training curriculum that is more compatible with screen readers after Chair Roseanne Ashby noted difficulty reading the original PDF. The planned training will include an in‑person component at the Buzzman courthouse and an online Teams option; recordings will be made available for later review. Members asked for at least one to two weeks' notice for public meetings; staff said one week is required for public engagement and two weeks is a general guideline for notices.

Staff also said the STAR Rider Guide is being updated to align with current operations, add clearer rights-and-responsibilities language and include revised reasonable-accommodation procedures. "We will now allow reasonable accommodations to be sent electronically going forward given a signed doctor's note is provided and scanned into the computer for staff's viewing," Roco said. Staff told the committee they expect to have substantive updates by the end of the year and will provide the subcommittee and public an opportunity to comment before permanent changes are adopted.
