Superintendent explained that one-time state career-technical education grants (about $1 million per high school in prior allocations) funded new barns at East Robertson and Jo Byrns/Jo Burns High Schools to support FFA agriculture programs and student training with cattle.

The full story

A commissioner asked why horse trailers and new barns were present on school properties. Superintendent and school staff explained that several years ago the state allocated one-time career and technical education funds (about $1 million per high school, as described by the speaker) to support vocational programs. School officials said East Robertson High School and Jo Byrns (Jo Burns) High School used those funds to build new barns and related facilities for agriculture/FFA programs; the buildings are nearing completion and students will use them for livestock and agricultural training.
