Trustees hear MTSS overview; state requires one district FTE for training

District presenters described the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, said the State now funds UNR-provided training and requires one full-time equivalent at the district level, and noted it can take three to five years for schools to reach Tier 1 fidelity.

At the March 19 Douglas County School District Board meeting, district staff presented an overview of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) model and the district’s training partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno. Mrs. Ravenscroft and Mrs. Mortenson explained MTSS Tier I (core), Tier II (supplemental) and Tier III (intensive) interventions and highlighted schools using strong MTSS practices, including GES, PWLMS, ASPIRE and DHS.
