Comal ISD president reports which trustees met continuing-education requirements; some trustees exceed hours

As required under State Board of Education rules and the Texas Education Code, Board President Courtney Biasatti read a script enumerating completion of required continuing-education areas and identified trustees who are deficient or have exceeded requirements. The minutes record that Amanda Jones exceeded required continuing education by 10 hours, Biasatti exceeded by 7 hours, David Krawczynski by 2 hours and Russ Garner by 12 hours. The script enumerated eight training areas (local orientation, Texas Education Code orientation, post-legislative update, team building, additional continuing education, evaluating student academic performance, identifying and reporting abuse/trafficking, and school safety) and listed specific trustees meeting or deficient in each area.

Biasatti read the script verbatim as required by the rule; excerpts included statements such as "As Board President, I am required to announce the name of each member who: Has completed the required continuing education; Has exceeded the required continuing education; and Is deficient in meeting the required continuing education." The board used the announcement to document compliance status ahead of the next election cycle and to notify the public about training completion.
