The board considered whether to adopt a policy that would provide an optional period for prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text as permitted by Education Code 25.0823 and voted not to adopt such a policy. Cynthia Alvarez made the motion and Stan Shults seconded; the motion passed 7-0.
