Suffolk Legislature Approves Deputy Sheriffs Contract with Pay Increases, Overtime Limits
The Suffolk County Legislature on June 17 approved a multi-year agreement with the Deputy Sheriffs Police Benevolent Association that raises starting and top-step pay and adds overtime controls including a 24-hour rule, light-duty assignments and civilianization to reduce sworn overtime.

The Suffolk County Legislature approved agenda item 1554-26 on June 17, authorizing the County Executive to execute a contract with the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs Police Benevolent Association covering Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2029. The roll call recorded 15 "Yes" votes; Legislators Gonzalez, Thorne and Lennon were absent.
