Neighbors press Selectboard over Bayview Path proposal, raise safety and property concerns

Adjacent property owners told the Selectboard they were surprised by a proposed Bayview Path and raised worries about slope stability, drainage, safety, parking and an existing shed on town land; the board said drainage, parking and design must be addressed before moving forward.

A proposed walking path on a small town-owned parcel on Bayview Lane drew objections from adjacent property owners at the Aug. 11 Selectboard meeting. Robin Jeffers, an owner of a directly adjacent property, said she had been told the parcel "would never be developed," expressed fear about crossing the road due to speeding and questioned how bikes would be kept off a path down a steep slope. Neighbor Paul Michael said development could impede parking and described an ongoing dispute over a shed that sits on town-owned land.
