Dolton clerk gives tutorial on accessing village code online

Clerk Key, the Village of Dolton clerk, released a short online demonstration showing residents how to access the municipality's Code of Ordinances on the American Legal Publishing website. The tutorial walks users through opening the site's Code Library, selecting Illinois, then choosing Dolton from the municipality list to reach the village code.

The video shows two navigation options: browse the titles and chapters listed on the left-hand menu or use the search bar to find a topic. As an example, Clerk Key typed "trees" and said the results included sections under Chapter 154, "Trees and Shrubs," and specifically noted section 154.002 for trimming responsibilities. Clerk Key also pointed out that some code pages include links to applicable penalties and fee information and recommended the "training webinar" option on the vendor's site for a more detailed walkthrough.

"If you have additional questions or need assistance [music] locating information, please contact the Village of Dolton Clerk's office and we'll be happy to help you," Clerk Key said in the recording, directing viewers to local staff for follow-up. The clerk named American Legal Publishing as the company responsible for updating and maintaining the village codification.
