Chowchilla council incorporates county hazard mitigation plan into General Plan

The council adopted Resolution #51-26 to incorporate the 2026 Madera County Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan into Chowchilla’s Public Safety Element, finding the General Plan amendment exempt from CEQA per CEQA Guidelines sections 15262 and 15061(b)(3).

The Chowchilla City Council adopted Resolution #51-26 on July 28 to incorporate the 2026 Madera County Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) by reference into the city’s Public Safety Element via General Plan Amendment GPA 26-0345. The council found the amendment exempt from CEQA under CEQA Guidelines sections 15262 and 15061(b)(3). Mayor Pro Tem Ray Barragan opened and closed the public hearing at 4:29 p.m.; no members of the public commented.
