County questions Purdue Extensions 43% contractual increase

Council members pushed back on a roughly $40,000 request from Purdue Extension that would raise county contractual support by about 43%, asking for participation-based metrics and asking staff to return with options before approving the full increase.

An Extension representative told the Grant County Council that Purdue is changing its funding formula from a previous staffing basis to a population-based regional model and asked the county to cover a higher contractual contribution — an increase of roughly $40,000. "I figure we'll address the $40,000 elephant in the room," the presenter said when introducing the request.
