Administration told trustees that the district's long‑standing bus vendor, Harlo's Transportation, notified district leaders that rising costs since the pre‑COVID contract meant an automatic renewal would exceed the 12% threshold allowed under state procurement rules. "Harlo's management has informed us that ... they cannot uh stay within that 12% allowable and it will exceed that amount," a board speaker reported, and recommended opening the bidding process.
Trustees voted to open the bidding process, set a May 27 closing date for proposals, and directed staff to post bid documents on the district website and advertise locally. The board also solicited volunteers to serve on the evaluation subcommittee to review bids when they are received.
