Commission approves $166,720 amendment for Rattlesnake Water Treatment Plant construction costs

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a contract amendment for the Rattlesnake Water Treatment Plant on Aug. 10, 2026. The amendment increases General Conditions in Contract A with Bowen Engineering Corporation by $166,720 to cover the period May through August 2026 and affirms the Construction Manager is entitled to $41,680.00 per month in General Conditions during the construction phase.

Commissioners said project administration tasks, including punch-list completion and coordination of Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendments, remain in progress. The board also directed legal counsel to work with Bowen and related contractors to extract specified equipment (generator, ETS and pumps) from the current contract and shift them to the water intake contract to advance substantial completion efforts.

The action was moved and seconded on the record and approved by unanimous roll call. The board’s materials note ongoing coordination with the Construction Manager and engineering consultants; no new effective completion date was specified in the board motion.

Next steps: project administration and GMP coordination will continue under the amended contract terms; the board asked counsel to pursue contract clarifications and reassignments to the water intake contract.
