Subcommittee to recommend candidates to full boards; final appointments set for Sept. 8

Members emphasized that the subcommittee’s role is to make a recommendation to the full Park & Recreation Commission and Select Board and discussed how and when the full boards will deliberate and vote.

Miles explained that the subcommittee’s recommendation should be available to the Select Board one week prior to its meeting to comply with Select Board policy and that the full boards are scheduled to deliberate and vote on Sept. 8. Participants noted that while the subcommittee’s endorsement carries weight, the full voting boards may consider any applicant during the formal appointment vote.

Given scheduling constraints and the potential for one applicant to be interviewed separately, members agreed to make clear to applicants how the process will work and to provide commissioners access to any recorded interviews so the full boards can make informed deliberations at the Sept. 8 meeting. The subcommittee plans to finalize its recommendation after all interviews and to forward that recommendation in time for the posted Select Board meeting packet.
