Subcommittee weighs options after one applicant cannot attend Aug. 24 interview

The subcommittee identified one applicant who cannot attend the scheduled Aug. 24 joint meeting and considered several alternatives to ensure equitable consideration.

A participant named the applicant during discussion and members explored options including a separate Zoom interview the week after Aug. 24, scheduling a subcommittee meeting on Aug. 31, or allowing commissioners to review a posted recording before the full-board deliberation. Miles said the subcommittee could accommodate a later interview and make the recording available for other commissioners to review in advance of the full boards’ deliberation.

Members discussed the tight timeline — the recording or interview would need to be available before Select Board packet deadlines — and noted Labor Day/weekend scheduling constraints. They asked staff to try to schedule an Aug. 31 subcommittee session if the applicant remained unavailable for the 24th, and to communicate clearly with the applicant about process and timing so the candidate is not disadvantaged.
