Board hears progress report on drainage improvements; tree removals and staged completion dates noted

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported that all four drainage improvement sites are under construction, with cleared sites, silt fences in place and fill staged at Turnberry. He said Palmetto Dunes is expected to be completed by the end of the week and that, if grading is completed on schedule, the entire project could finish by the end of July.

Mr. Krebs noted that a total of twelve affected trees in Palmetto Dunes will need to be removed and replaced (mostly slash pines, and two red maples), and that six Cabbage Palms must be removed and replanted in Oak Run. He also said an unexpected contractor strike to an A/C coolant line required repair; Mr. Long contacted the owner and the line was fixed, with the cost expected to come from contingency. Staff will track additional costs and include a log for the next agenda.
