Township zoning official told the Planning Commission that while 'Data Centers' are not explicitly named in Use Class 8, Use Class 8A (New Industrial Parks) permits high‑tech industries; the commission concluded a data center could be considered a permitted high‑tech use.

Commissioner Teel asked Township Zoning/Building Officer Tina Serfass whether data centers are a permitted use under the township zoning ordinance. Serfass said Use Class 8, as written, does not specifically call out "Data Centers," but Use Class 8A for new industrial parks lists research facilities, laboratories, high‑tech industries and technical centers that support these activities.
