Neighbors tell Meigs County panel commercial traffic from proposed RV sites is damaging private Riley Lane

Neighbors asked the Meigs County Planning Commission at length to act against what they said was sustained commercial traffic on a private access called Riley Lane tied to a proposed cluster of RV sites. Jason, who identified himself during public comment, said heavy construction vehicles repeatedly use the gravel lane and that residents bear maintenance costs: “I spent 40,000 on maintenance,” he said, adding that the group had collected signatures and sought enforcement of deed restrictions.

Residents said Google Maps routing and unclear addressing leads commercial contractors to use the private lane; they urged moving a mailbox to the road end and posting signs to discourage commercial traffic. They also told the commission a local officer had advised that enforcement depends on deed restrictions being reflected in the final approval documents. The neighbors said they want a physical gate or other measures at the bottom of the lane to stop construction traffic while preserving the applicant’s right of access.
