Committee hears construction progress; staff says pier work is underway

The Oklahoma County Citizens Oversight Committee received an update on the adult detention and behavioral care campus construction, including a report that pier-drilling has replaced early dirt work and that project team members have “drilled about 130 piers” and are “very well funded” for that phase.

Project staff (Stacy) told the committee the jail portion is roughly "$16.5 million in" to the work and that the inspection team has required fixes for items Flintco has corrected; "73% of all the things that have been found to date have been fixed and completed and reinspected," she said. Committee members asked for clarification on mitigation of excessive costs and staff said earlier contractor and testing measures remain in place.

The presentation also noted the ARPA-funded behavioral-care piece is near exhaustion of that source: staff said the county has spent about $32 million of an expected $38 million in ARPA funds for that component and that additional funding would be local. The update closed with committee questions about next-phase design cleanup and the need for continued oversight as construction moves to later stages.
