Peru board adopts crossing-guard compensation, substitute-pay policy
The Board approved a clerk's office policy clarifying crossing-guard pay and substitute rules, including that police officers acting as substitutes would not receive extra pay, and that substitutes (when not officers) would be paid.

The Peru Board of Public Works voted Aug. 18 to adopt a written policy clarifying crossing-guard compensation and substitute pay. Andrea said the policy breaks down how crossing guards are paid and explains substitute-pay mechanics; she noted there was no existing policy on the matter prior to this action.
