Monaca told PennDOT must study Jake-brake restriction before borough can act

Manager Kramer told council that PennDOT representative Nicole Haney indicated a technical study is required to determine whether a Jake-brake (engine brake) restriction is warranted on approaches to the toll bridge. Kramer said Representative Matzie’s office and a constituent request prompted the inquiry and that Kevin Bowser from Matzie’s office had relayed PennDOT’s requirement. Kramer recommended the borough submit a formal written request and suggested including Pennsylvania Avenue in the study if council wishes to proceed.
